Markle...our favorite summer place :)

Sorry for the time that I have gone without posting! It's been a crazy summer. Yet, the youth group always finds time to fit activities in the schedule. A couple of weeks ago we traveled to Markle after church.

Markle is a small town with a big lake open to the public. It has diving boards, a water slide, and a small beach area. There are also large decks to float on in the middle of the water.

Markle is a yearly tradition that the youth group truly enjoys. Although CJ couldn't go, many of the church members did. Pictured are: Austin Peoples, TJ Colwell, Kate Hillman, Josh Bramlett, Leslie Hawkers, Joey Heldt, Jarob Bramlett, and Sam Martt.....and I was behind the camera.

We tried to get us all in the picture.......but that didnt work out so well.
Too many miles to go...

                                                  We had lunch at McDonalds...yum
But we were NOT impressed with the packeted ketchup :(

The car ride there with two goofy boys....Jarob and TJ rode with Austin and I.

Every half our there is a break for the lifeguards for fifteen minutes............so everyone crashed...

Of course, we have to remember Markle's wonderful snacks!

And after a long day in the sun, Josh and Kate were very tired and slept most of the way home..precious :)

We are looking forward to upcoming Markle trips and encourage anyone to come and have fun and fellowship with us!

Protest For Pluto

This past weekend a band from our church, Protest for Pluto, played at Ichthus. For those of you who don't know Protest for Pluto, definitely check them out! They are a group of young guys from our church: Josh Bramlett, Jarob Bramlett, TJ Colwell, Adam Sadler, and Chase Reagan.

The boys work very hard to promote their Christian rock band. The greatest thing is is that the band uses all the talents God has given them to praise God.

The band members write their own songs and are about to release their new CD: Call Before You Dig. The cd is wonderful!

PFP has made a difference in many peoples' lives. The Christian band worships God with all their hearts; during their concerts they bring the good news of the Lord to everyone and offer to pray with anyone after every show. This group of guys has made a huge impact in my life; let them make one in yours!
Gotta love em :)

Tomorrow, we will be going to Markle to swim (weather permitting!). That will make for a good blog, so be sure to check it out this week!

Talent Show

We recently had a church talent show. There were various acts from singing and dancing to riding on a bicycle and jumping a rope at the same time! We had a lot of fun with the talent show and ultimately praised God for the multiple talents He has given us within our church family.

Madison Mousty and Sophie Walker lip sync(ed) to a Justin Beiber song. They also had choreography for the entire song. These two were a joy to watch!

Kara, my sister, and I sang two songs: leave the pieces by the wreckers, and famous in a small town by miranda lambert. The guitar was a bit rusty, but my good friend T.J. Colwell tuned it up for me and I played decent.

Ivy Walker also gave another breath-taking performance! Each time I hear this girl sing I get cold chills. The beautiful voice she has was also accompanied by Sophie. The two of them together is a perfect combination.

I am so thankful for the talents God has blessed us all with! I wish I had time to put more photos on but I don't....maybe another day. Until then remember 1 Corinthians 10:31 - Therefore, whether YOU are eating or drinking or doing anything else, do all things for God’s glory :)

FFA State Contests

Today, three of our traction members competed in the State FFA Contests at Purdue University.

Jarob Bramlett and Ivy Walker competed in Talent. Jarob played drums while Ivy played guitar. Along with two other FFA members, Jarob and Ivy composed a list of 4 songs and played them for multiple judges in a span of 15 minutes. The songs were as follows: Marry Me -Bruno Mars, If I Die Young -The Band Perry, Arlington -The Twilight, and Take Me Down To The Little White Church -Little Big Town.

Needless to say, the performance was very enjoyable; I'm sure Ivy and Jarob cannot wait to find out results on Wednesday. (though they should not be too worried......they sounded better than professionals!)

Also, Kelli Morton competed today in Ag Issues with 4 other FFA girls. The debate topic was "Should Your Career Be In Agriculture?" Questions by the judges followed. After a few late night practices and some team
tears, the performance went pretty well.

Although we will not find out the official results until Wednesday, we did find out that both the Ag Issues team and the FFA Talent made it into the top 4! Hopefully we can say "Nationals here we come" after Wednesday :)

The most amazing part of today that I noticed was that we prayed as a whole at the beginning of the day as well as individual teams before our competitions. Sometimes, it is not the easiest thing to do, but the power of prayer is AMAZING!
Great Job FFA Members!!!!!!!

Thought of the day:

The Adventure Begins!

Welcome to the Sulphur Springs Christian Church Traction Blog!

With new technologies, we thought a blog would be a great way to share our faith with everyone. First, let me introduce the main members of our youth group: Josh Bramlett (Youth Leader), Jarob Bramlett, T.J. Colwell, Kelli Morton, Ivy Walker, Austin Peoples, Sophie Walker, Conor McIlrath, Madison Mousty, Sam Martt, and Brooklyn Alm. If I forgot any others, I apologize.

At Sulphur Springs, we stay connected with God through mission trips, service projects, praise band, and goals in the Sunday School class. We occasionally have fun as we travel to Markle, enjoy campouts in the church yard, attend Protest For Pluto concerts, and even having movie nights.

I hope this blog is prosperous...sorry it is so short (But we are just beginning!)  We would love to see you at our Sunday School at 9 or during service at 10.
